Sane is what you'll need to get the image from your scanner to use with OCR software. As for OCR solutions, there are several out there.

Oh ok, so should I just find a howto for my scanner?
I have an epson.
And what format does sane need to scan the document into for the OCR package to be able to interpret it?

One place to look to find out what there is is an article at http://groundstate.ca/ocr

I'll have a look.

Thanks for your help,
