I use it all the time, including from my laptop whilst on the road. However, I use it from the console. The gui twinkle isn't Orca capable. Are you launching from the console/terminal? Command would be: twinkle -c PS: I have written a bash script to first set alsa parms before launching twinkle -c on my laptop, depending on whether I have my usb headset device, or am using the builtin mic, or some other external mic.
