Thanks! I haven't used Lynx since the early DOS days. Then one manual way to perform the task for the initial merger could be (backing up relevant files at every step of the way, of course): 1. Get all of the bookmarks other than any existing Lynx bookmarks into Firefox/Netscape format. (Firefox will import MSIE Favorites. Check the File menu for the "import" feature.) 2. In Firefox's bookmarks organizer (on the Bookmarks menu), move all bookmarks into a single folder and delete all other folders. (Firefox won't let you delete the Bookmarks Toolbar Folder). 3. Returning to the main Firefox dialog, open the bookmarks in the sidebar and and use the "sort by name" action to sort the bookmarks alphanumerically by link title. (I think steps 1-3 could also be done on Linux using Konqueror, but I don't have Linux running at the moment (I'm in the midst of a system rebuild). 4. Open a copy of the resulting bookmarks file in a text editor or word processor that has enough power to find and replace Hard Return line endings. (OpenOffice.org, Quanta Plus, Kate, emacs, vi, etc. on Linux; on Windows personally I'd use either NoteTab Pro or WordPerfect. 5. Strip any remaining cruft, such as the warning not to edit the file that Firefox inserts, any stray folders and their markup you couldn't get rid of (Firefox insists on keeping a few there). Firefox, IIRC, marks up folders using definition list markup.) 6. Do a search and replace, replacing all Hard Returns with "Hard Return<li>" (no quotation marks). 7. Add markup for the appropriate list type surrounding all the bookmarks. (You didn't mention whether Lynx uses an ordered, unordered, or definition list.) 8. Save the file (as plain text if using a word processor) and test. 9. Should be joy. Were I doing it myself, I would probably do everything from steps 3 through 7 in WordPerfect. And were I faced with the need to do it more than once, I'd probably create a PerfectScript to automate those steps. But I would definitely check out that free online service I linked earlier, <http://www.linkagogo.com/>. If it works as advertised, it would definitely speed the process and enable synchronization on an ongoing basis. I haven't checked the service for accessibility, but a quick view of the page source for the home page shows some alt tags for images, so that's a promising sign. Another possibility, albeit not an instant solution, is that if the Konqueror file manager/browser doesn't presently support Lynx bookmarks import and export, you might consider approaching its developers about what is a genuine accessibility issue Best regards, Marbux > Geoff. > > > _______________________________________________ > Blinux-list mailing list > Blinux-list@xxxxxxxxxx > https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/blinux-list > _______________________________________________ Blinux-list mailing list Blinux-list@xxxxxxxxxx https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/blinux-list
