permission problem on external USB disk

Hi all,

I'd like to put my music on an external USB disk:
so I formatted one as ext2,
I'm able to mount it from my root console,
but user had no write permissions on it,
even if I put the next line in fstab:
/dev/sda1 /mnt/mymusic auto user,rw,dmask=0755,fmask=0644 0 0

The goals is that I have a ~/MuMusic symlink to /mnt/mymusic
so the converted CD songs are immediately dropped on the usb disk, but my
conversion program uses to drop files into ~/MyMusic/artist/album/titles.mp3

Any idea how I should fix this?

(distro is Sarge on +/- older pc).

Aldo.
