Hi Dave!
The problem is that this Linux-box is a stripped down mp3-playing box, with
no compilers installed.
I'll try the nofb parameter. Do I have to give that parameter to the kernel
in the Grub config file?
Otherwise, do you think a solution could be to select another font with the
Consolechars utility?
Best regards,
Patrik

[quoted lines by Patrik Johansson on 2007/04/11 at 19:24 +0200]
I've just installed Fedora Core 6 and Brltty 3.7.2 on my Linux box. I want
to use Brltty with my Braillex EL 40 Desktop Braille display.
When I start Brltty I get the startup message on the Braille display, but
after that I only get question marks. However, I can see that the cursor
moves on the Braille display when I type letters at the shell prompt.
Does anyone know what the problem could be?
Although 3.7.2 is the latest production release, it is, unfortunately,
rather
old. We've been a bit slow in releasing 3.8. Are you able to build 3.8
from the
source repository and give it a try? I suspect it contains the fix for
your
problem, which I believe to be a problem we fixed some time ago related to
the
interpretation of extended characters in the font table of a frame buffer
console. Alternatively, you might try booting with the nofb (no frame
buffer)
kernel parameter.
