One could just use ms-kermit 3.16 or 3.15 on the dos box and get the
proper packet driver installed for their ethernet card to work with dos
and once that's done a little configuration with kermit might or might not
be necessary. Kermit is set to look for 192.168.1.1 by default and if it
finds an ehternet card there, you're effectively on the net. Kermit was
able to go out on ethernet cards back in the early 1990's and was pulling
large files down very quickly in those years.
