Hmmm, this is sounding a bit complicated for me, as I'm not used to command line. I'll learn it eventually, I'm sure, though, but it's possible this might be too much of a handful for me at the moment.

I'm listening though, and thanks for your help, dave and Samuel.

ymodem tools are in the lszrz package. Just run

sz --ymodem < /dev/ttyS0 > /dev/ttyS0 thefile

for sending, and

rz --ymodem < /dev/ttyS0 > /dev/ttyS0 thefile

for receiving.

She probably needs that done from within a wrapper which does BrlAPI
suspend/resume.
