Oh, I just got whatever one from fl.linux-speakup.org. I got it sort of
going, just had to uninstall stuff that they said that one might hose the
system if things were uninstalled. I think the errors centered around
e2fsprogs needing to be replaced before I could install other packages, and
in order to do that, the Kernel, Modutils, and a whole lot of other stuff
had to temporarily go. Why can't I seem to get Pine and stuff like that. I
think I probably need to add more sites to the apt sources list besides the
mirror I chose. Maybe I'll have to reinstall with this disk instead as what
I have is Sarge Unstable.

I found a Sarge installation CD that is speakup enabled with a 2.6 kernel
at the following url:
http://people.debian.org/~shane/netinst-speakup/
I have been trying to set up debian with software TTS and am not quite
there yet, but I do have the speakup kernel installed and I don't there
there are any errors - yet.
You might try again and have better luck.

How can I get an accessible Gnopernicus install disk? Is it even possible
to install with speech, either with Speakup or Gnopernicus? I've just
found the Speakup Debian Sarge quite broken, it doesn't install
everything needed such that tasksel fails on critical dependencies to the
point I had to uninstall the kernel itself and reinstall from the CD.
Ubuntu sounds easier if I could get an accessible install. Where is that
and how would one start talking install?

Subject: problem, gnopernicus does not talk every time gnome starts.
hello all,
I just installed gnopernicus on ubuntu 6.06.1 code named dapper drake.
actually it comes installed with gnopernicus and festival. I
activated the accessibility option in the system preferences of gnome
and also checked the checkbox for screen reader.
the then I logout and log bac in and the gonpernicus started talking.
but after that when I powered off the computer and then after some
time powered it back again, gnopernicus did start but there was no
speach.
I did a logout and login and it strted to speak.
but after that it has never talked again. why is there in
cconsistency with gnopernicus?
is it a bug that can be patched?
my version is the one that comes with ubuntu 6.06 by default.
and my sound card is a creative vibra 128 card which is shown as cyrus
logic.
further more when gnopernicus did talk, I tried to change the rate and
pitch but it too had no effect.
what could be the reason for these problems?
thanking all,
Krishnakant.
