There's also Cygwin (www.cygwin.com). It's a Linux environment that runs under Windows. Brltty runs native in this environment and, though there are some rough edges, you can switch tasks between Cygwin and Windows and have the best (or worst if you so desire :-) of both worlds without needing to reboot. Many Linux programs won't run under Cygwin but the success rate is increasing all the time. As a vehicle for getting back into Linux it's more than adequate.
