If you are comfortable with using an IRC program, you could use bitlbee. 
Bitlbee is an IRC to MSN/ICQ/AIM/jabber gateway that acts like an IRC 
server on your computer, and manages your instant messenger accounts 
from the one sudo IRC channel. This is very useful if you also frequent 
IRC.
