Subject: Re: gnopernicus on fc4?
hi!
I've got the same problem on mandrake
10.i
I started gnopernicus, but with out any error
it don't speak.
I supozed that festival is the problem and try
to check the functionality of festival
it didn't work.
So I think that the sound ssystem is and try to
play an wav file it works
I produced a wav file with festival and try to
play it with another player:
It sounds very low.
I encountered that problem on a cmi 8738
4.1 chanels sound card.
Because on my computer I have another sound
card, I decided to switch on that one which is a stereo sound card
onboard sis 7018
with that one all sims to work
fine.
My conclusion is that festival has problems
with multichanels sound cards.
Another problem I've encountered is that after
some settings in gnopernicus it soped to talk and never come to
live!
Even the festival engines works and i reset on
the default option of gnopernicus!!!
The version of gnopernicus i used was
0.8.4
and festival 1.95

Subject: Re: gnopernicus on
fc4?
I think it's metacity. I can't get it going
on fc-3. I have alsa working and it starts to speak, but I get a
gnopernicus window, and a terminal one, and at times a gnome-session one
that seems empty, can't do anything from it. In the docs I found online,
they want variables set which I did all but a few because I don't know
where to set the directory, can't tell where the gnome2 dir is that they
want, whereis gnome or whereis gnome2 doesn't work, and locate gives
screenfuls of stuff in all sorts of places. To switch to sawfish requires
other dependencies that fc3 didn't install.
