Error when trying to apt-get experimental gnome

Hi blinux-list,

I'm running Debian unstable on an Ibm Netvista with 1.4 Gig
processor and 512 Meg ram. Today i tried to apt-get gnome from the
Experimental branch of Debian. Everything seemed to work well, but
then i got an error saying something like "Dpkg returned an error
(code 1)" while trying to unpack a package in the distribution.
There wasn't an explanation as to what this error message could mean
so i ask if anyone running Debian has encountered this before and
can provide any hints? Could it be as simple as "disk full" or what
  could it be?
  Thanks for any answers.
