SORRY, BUT KUDZU -SAFE DIDN'T DO IT. IT RAN FOR A BIT, BUT NO DIALOGUES. IF I play a sound, the play program takes as long as it should for a sound to play, but I hear nothing from the speakers, and pluging headphones in where I think they should go (i've never used the phones on the sb64) produces nothing Is there a command I can give to determine if linux thinks I have the device? -----Original Message----- From: blinux-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx [mailto:blinux-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Dave Mielke Sent: Friday, May 27, 2005 10:14 PM To: Linux for blind general discussion Subject: Re: sound and linux [quoted lines by Michael Malver on 2005/05/27 at 20:15 -0500] >I have a sound blaster 64 which somehow didn't get recognized when linux was >installed. >I see reference to a program called sndconfig, but that seems to be gone. kudzu should configure it. Run the command: kudzu --safe For each new piece of hardware it finds, it'll ask you if you want to configure it. The --safe option is to keep kudzu from probing serial ports, which will leave your speech synthesizer or braille display undisturbed. -- Dave Mielke | 2213 Fox Crescent | I believe that the Bible is the Phone: 1-613-726-0014 | Ottawa, Ontario | Word of God.
