Hi Levi,

The gentoo emacspeak ebuild doesn't include a configuration file. If you want /usr/bin/emacspeak to cause emacspeak to use eflite, then create /etc/emacspeak.conf and insert the line
export DTK_PROGRAM=/usr/bin/eflite

Hi, I'm Levi Campbell and I'm trying to get my laptop configured so
that I can use it with speech support. I'm running gentoo 2004.3 using
a 2.6.10 kernel with the speakup patches and I have emacs, emacspeak,
emacspeak-ss, nfbtrans, most and GNU Screen and I have access to the
festival, festival lite and eflite speech synthesizers available
through gentoo's portage system. I don't have a hardware synthesizer
but I do have a sound card that has been configured with ALSA, I know
that eflite works because when I type cat /home/levi/testfile.txt |
eflite and I get sound but I can't get eflite to work with emacspeak.
So my question is, what do I need to do so I can use emacspeak with a
speech synthesizer?
