I had the >message "updated to revision 1210". Note that you'll still see that "you need a newer e2fsck" message. rhmkiso understands that condition and deals with it, but it's not possible to tell e2fsck to not issue that message. >I gunzipped the initrd.img file contained in the brlfc3i.iso file and >see that the usb devices (/dev/ttyUSB0 etc ...) are not present on the >file system. also no /dev/vcsa0 device. >So perhaps the Voyager doesn't need /dev/ttyUSB0 and the Papenmeier >needs it ? i don't know. No, brltty doesn't use those devices in any of its drivers. It does all its USB work via usbfs. >Also I tried to understand how the brltty executable is started but it >seems things have changed compared to the RH boot diskettes : In fact I >see an init file but not an init_real file. An initrd is executed via the /linuxrc symbolic link. You'll find that that's now symlinked to brltty. >/tmp/rhmkiso.YPaq0m/brltty-3.6/Programs/sys_shlib_dlfcn.h:27: warning: >Using 'dlopen' in statically linked applications requires at runtime the shared >libraries from the glibc version used for linking These warnings are okay. They're new, and I haven't yet figured out how to get rid of them. They're generated because, even when linking statically, some portions of glibc, e.g. name service lookups, still load shared plug-ins. The warnings mean to make sure that you run the static binary on a system which also provides a compatible copy of the dynamically lodable plug-ins. Nothing you'll do with brltty will require them, so those warnings, in this case, are merely an annoyance. >e2fsck: Filesystem has unsupported feature(s) >(/tmp/rhmkiso.YPaq0m/initrd.ext2) >e2fsck: Veuillez obtenir une version plus récente de e2fsck! You should still expect to see this (see above) as rhmkiso first tries the simpler way before trying the more complicated way. If you get a brltty.iso then it's working. -- Dave Mielke | 2213 Fox Crescent | I believe that the Bible is the Phone: 1-613-726-0014 | Ottawa, Ontario | Word of God.
