Y-windows

I just noticed that there is a project called Y-windows 
(http://www.y-windows.org), which looks like the beginning of a windowing 
system intended to have modern features that X lacks.  It supports 
server-side widgets, so it looks as though it would be easier to make 
accessible than X if it continues to develop.
