Shaving mp3s?

Last evening I recorded an mp3 of the VOA stream of the Vice-Presidential
Debate. However, I would like to shave the first 2 minites and 49 seconds off.
I know in windows there is mp3trim. What commandline or editing tool can I use
in Linux to do this? Right now I have speakup with a Dectalk pc. As an
alternative, if I can arrow left-and-right through the file like in mytrplayer,
then delete from there up or down. Thanks so much in advance
Hart
