Hi.  I use the alsa modules in the 2.6 kernel instead of the source for
drivers from the alsa project.  They show the same version as what
you get from the alsa project and make modules_install works.  When I
used alsa source, make modules_install would remove the alsa binary
files from /lib/modules/kernel_version.
