Hi. At work we do have Matlab in use on several different platforms, including Linux. I do know for sure that there is a Linux version of Matlab (just recently installed that on our Beowulf Cluster), and it does have a command-line driven interface. However, I don't know any details about the language in use to "program" Matlab, so I can not really say if you will be able to do everything that is allowed by the Graphical Interface. However, I guess, if you are good at matlab coding, you probably can. Just to give you an example, here is how Matlab starts: ctrl:~% /master/software/matlab/bin/matlab < M A T L A B > Copyright 1984-2002 The MathWorks, Inc. Version 6.5.0.180913a Release 13 Jun 18 2002 To get started, type one of these: helpwin, helpdesk, or demo. For product information, visit www.mathworks.com. >> 1+1 ans = 2 >> quit ctrl:~% I don't know anything about single user license pricing, but I am afraid it is probably going to be a bit more expensive then the usual non-free software.
