Many people have reported seeing garbage characters (usually rendered as question marks) when trying to install RedHat or Fedora with braille. I've finally had a close look at the problem, and it turns out to be a bug in the 2.4 kernel's support for framebuffer consoles. Braille works properly when a good old-fashioned VGA console is used. You can get a VGA console text install by typing the following at the intaller's boot prompt: text video=vc:13 Before any mystique develops around the mysterious number 13, I'd better explain it. It simply means that all virtual consoles with numbers less than that won't be framebuffer consoles. I picked 13 since there are 12 F keys. Note that the problem of the cursor always being on the line below the selected item in a list is still unresolved. -- Dave Mielke | 2213 Fox Crescent | I believe that the Bible is the Phone: 1-613-726-0014 | Ottawa, Ontario | Word of God.
