Hi,
I gave a long answer about how to read postscript files some days ago. Well,
the programs i talked about read pdf files, too.

In short: you can use either ps2ascii (debian package gs-common) or pstotext
(debian package pstotext). The second one gives prettier output, but they are
both good for you.

They are simple to use:

ps2ascii file.pdf file.txt
pstotext < file.pdf > file.txt
