Are you saying ICQ will work with Linux with a package called micq?yep, it does
and there is another one, more windows-friendly, called centericq.

but with this last one, I do not manage to check when I have many users writing messages to me.
I use centericq, but it's quite a trouble to add contacts, and there's no way to send files.
