a new linux problem

hello!
so, here is the next problem on my linux journey.
I am trying to install the festival package with the mbrola english and
swedish databases.
i have a festvox for the swedish database and the packages mensioned in the
my tts linux mini howto.
but when i shall install the festival package it says that libtermcap,
libstring and some other stuff is needed.
what packages do i need?
I also have two other problems.
first, the cd burning i talked about earlier.
I can't get this with scsi emulation to work.
where do i remove the support for the ide cd rom from my kernel?
or is there a program who can handle ida directly without that scsi
emulation?

and now my other problem.
I want to install the playmidi package but i get a message saying that
asound is needed.
where do i find the package containing that library and what name is it on
that package?

and finally a question.
I think i have seen this question and an answer to it somewhere but don't
know where i seen it.
Is there a version of eloquence for linux?

thanks in advance

kristoffer
