If, from pine's main menu, you press "s" (for Setup) and then "c" (for Config),
you'll be in a menu with lots of settings. There's one named "character-set".
You can find it by pressing "w" (for Whereis), then typing "character-set"
(without the quotes), and then pressing return. When you're there, press "c"
(for Change), edit the value to whatever you want, and then press return. I
suggest that you don't do this, however, until you've first fixed up the cursor
placement (see answer to next question).

Go to Setup, then go to Config, and then find the "show-cursor" setting. Press
return to toggle it on.
