Well, if it doesn't have to do with the modules, and it has specifically to do with the brltty-3.1 distribution, I would think others would be experiencing a problem regardless of the display used. I'm running debian unstable but compiled and installed brltty from the 3.1 tarball on Dave Mielke's site and have experienced no problems.
