Hi Depending upon which version of lilo your using, you may have a line in your lilo.conf that refers to a boot message that you can use. I've just looked and my current file doesn't have an entry. So from memory, it may be wrong. So check the documentation. But its something like this: message=/boot/boot.msg Then all you would need to do is to insert a control g character in the file called boot.msg in the boot directory. Don't forget if you have to make any changes to the lilo.conf file after saving your changes you must run lilo for your changes to take effect. BTW: From what I recall, I found vi the easiest way to insert a control g char into a document.
