Probably your best approach to Yahoo is to use something like imcom http://www.freshmeat.net/projects/imcom which is a consol client to the jabber network. Then connect to one of the public jabber servers such as jabber.at and use the jabber to yahoo gateway through that. you can also use this imcom / jabber solution to get access to ICQ, MSN and AIM.
