brltty and console

Hi,
I currently have my linux box set up to act in console mode. I also have it set so that a normal terminal session can be had with the keyboard and monitor if one desires.
My question is, can I use this normal monitor/keyboard log-in screen with brltty while the machine also is set to use ttyS0? My porblem is the machien only has one serial port, and my braille display is a braille lite 40 which must have a serial port. I would of course not need to run the actual console log-in part while in brltty, so can Linux (Redhat) handle this multi-tasking of the ttyS0?

Or do I need to create a way to load different configurations, perhaps with multiple Lilo bootload options?
Thanks.
