Just a quick followup to my search for a recording utility. I tried several, including rawrec and sound-recorder. The one which works best with scripts is yarec/yaplay. It makes a nice PCM compatible wav file. I was able to make a recording and import the resulting wav file striaght into an email (using mutt) and ship it off to its destination. The recipient could listen to it directly from her windows mail client. I am happy. rudy
