Please find below a brief summary of the progress Collabora has made last week.
Week 42 (2023)

- SPEC-4935 (agl-image-flutter: agl-shell-grpc-server segfaults) - potential issue to do not waiting for thread to join when exiting (needs just a test to verify).
- SPEC-4912 (Add gRPC activation into qt homescreen) - a follow-up to this was moving the gRPC proxy server to a dedicated systemd unit and looking into some knobs for the gRPC server. Moving it to the systemd unit did not yield any change in the behaviour so I decided go back and re-worked a bit the start-up sequence for the gRPC proxy server and adapt it a bit to be to do that right from the stast. This basically made an significant improvement, by cutting the start-up time in half, giving some more reasonable start-up time. It still takes an noticeable time, so what remains to be done is to try to speed up a bit the dance between gRPC proxy client and the server to make that time even lower.
PipeWire/WirePlumber:

- (SPEC-4881) - attached camera to AGL
- https://gerrit.automotivelinux.org/gerrit/c/apps/camera-gstreamer/+/29119) is merged now.
- fallback sink(show a still image if the cameras are not enumerated): Made the changes to push a still image to file system as well as refer to it from the code. need to test the changes.
- (SPEC-4940) - upgrade PipeWire and WirePlumber to latest versions.
- started working on the upgrade.
