Collabora weekly progress w/e 11th April 2021

Hi All,

Please find below a brief summary of the progress Collabora have made last week on Weston/Wayland and Pipewire.

Weston / Wayland

Marius:

- SPEC-3641 (Trigger a damage below the view to cause a repaint/do not carry out-of-tree patches for libweston initiative) - removal of uneeded/un-exported libweston calls. We don't actually need them and should be dropped.

- SPEC-3879 (Expose/export public libweston the seat/pointer/touch methods from libweston) - Conditionally patch out libweston to expose seat and input functions when only waltham-transmitter plugin is built (do not carry out-of-tree patches for libweston initiative). That plug-in is the only user so for now makes no sense to upstream it.

- SPEC-3881 (Fix split surface) - fixed an issue causing split surfaces/applications to crash due to invalid size given by compositor (which is a follow-up from a previous improvement that sent the final geometry/dimensions to client from the first surface commit)

- SPEC-3880 (agl-compositor basic testing) - Looking into Weston testing harness/framework as to add some basic compositor testing to AGL.

Pipewire / WirePlumber

Raghavendra:

- Removed redundant documentation from API library

- Debugged and fixed the issue where the documented entities in header files were not appearing in the final documentation

- Grouped the APIs into corresponding structs in the generated documentation

IC Sound Manager

George:

- Implemented a WirePlumber module to provide mixer controls API

- Added support for configuring volume on the cubic scale (optionally), which is more human friendly

- Added support in wpctl to display and be able to change mixer controls for all audio nodes and endpoints

Julian:

- Implemented lua scripts to link client streams to endpoints and endpoints to devices

- Separated endpoint-based policy from node-based policy into separate scripts and made it possible for them to co-exist
