Collabora weekly progress w/e 14th March 2021

Please find below a brief summary of the progress Collabora have made last week on Weston/Wayland and Pipewire.

Weston / Wayland

Marius

SPEC-3839 (agl-compositor doesn't send maximized surface size from the beginning) - MR posted, agl-compositor wasn't sending the available geometry size when desktop surface was added. Shell UI is using the entire output while regular application should receive the size without any surface attached, so clients can create their initial buffers from the beginning without needeing to do a resize

SPEC-3845 (Container/drm-lease integration with agl-compositor) - Cleaning out ivi-shell dependencies and removing the wayland back-end. Initial host builds done to looking into passing the lease from host to container.

SPEC-3843 (agl-service-homescreen crashing) - minor issue discovered due to SPEC-3818, MR posted

Raghavendra

- Experimenting with improving WirePlumber's documentation system. Went through Doxygen, Sphinx, Breathe, Exhale and the sphinx configuration in weston's source tree Created an initial documentation build that uses doxygen & sphinx instead of hotdoc.

Pipewire & WirePlumber (IC Sound Manager)

- Re-worked the pipewire & wireplumber recipes a bit; submission to gerrit still pending

- Updated the mediaplayer & radio bindings to use pipewiresink (pwaudiosink is no longer used)

- Started testing pipewire's bluetooth stack on the AGL ref hw

- Had some long discussions with Julian about simplifying the design of "endpoints"

Julian

- Started refactoring wireplumber endpoint API to be more simple

- Removed WpEndpointStream API from wireplumber

- Made WpSessionItem a sub-class from WpObject in wireplumber
