Collabora weekly progress w/e 20th December 2020

Hi All,

Please find below a brief summary of the progress Collabora have made last week on Weston/Wayland and Pipewire.

Weston / Wayland

Marius

- SPEC-3601 - tracked down SDK issue with waltham-receiver. It depends on DISTRO_FEATURE not currently set-up in the SDK image, thus failing to correctly add the run-time (libwaltham library). The series that brings up that feature is still pending, waiting for re-org of meta-agl.

- Looking into chromium79/WAM display renderer issue. Initial assesment shows a potential issues with the GBM library implementation/or something related to BSP. So far, compositor and other clients seem to work correctly on the same platform, yet clients that make use of GBM library (like chromium79 for instance, but also a weston client doing dmabuf with GBM) seem to be unable to use it. The fallback in chromium79 seems to be also failing resulting in a white screen.

Walter

- SPEC-3410 - test upstream master PipeWire on iMX8MQ succesfully. Submit addiontal MR with log improvements.

Pipewire

George

- Working on WirePlumber's Lua scripting plugin, which will replace the current static policy management codebase, which is a pre-requisite for updating WirePlumber in AGL while being able to support both desktop & automotive policies

Kind regards,

Nick
