A dot file of dependencies between libraries and interfaces, rendered with graphviz, always looks scary. An updated graph would be larger because there's a lot missing, but it doesn't mean that the situation is getting worse. And by getting rid of all obsolete parts (like OSS and ESD), the graph of dependencies would (hopefully) look better. I've been using Linux for 25 years, and the situation improved, even in the last 10 years. Audio on Windows or OSX is probably as bad for non Windows or OSX users (and developers).

Good luck to those working in it.

And also to those working on the Linux Graphics mess!
