For the "just sitting there" problem try updating your mkinitrd to the latest version rpm, because there was a problem on the newer kernels with redhat nash hanging during the activation of dmraid and it was related to needing a newer version of nash that was compiled with a newer version of parted.

Well, it sounded good, heck it even made sense. Sadly though, the RAID

just sits there now, doesn't complain, just sits there and spins its wheels.
