Hi,
I have a nForce4 board that has an additional sil3114 controller on it
I have the following setup:
nForce4 controller:
2x 80GB in RAID1
2x 300GB in RAID1
Sil3114 controller:
3x 250GB in raid5
The distro is Mandriva 2006 x86_64
Mu kernel is a 2.6.17.9 based kernel, with Con Kolivas -ck1 patch and
obviously this patch:
http://people.redhat.com/~heinzm/sw/dm/dm-raid45/dm-raid45-2.6.17.6-2006731a.patch.bz2
[root@tmb ~]# dmraid -V
dmraid version: 1.0.0.rc11 (2006.05.15)
dmraid library version: 1.0.0.rc11 (2006.05.15)
device-mapper version: 4.6.0
now at boot the initrd does:
#!/bin/nash
echo "Loading dm-mod.ko module"
insmod /lib/dm-mod.ko
echo "Loading dm-log.ko module"
insmod /lib/dm-log.ko
echo "Loading dm-mirror.ko module"
insmod /lib/dm-mirror.ko
echo "Loading scsi_mod.ko module"
insmod /lib/scsi_mod.ko
echo "Loading sd_mod.ko module"
insmod /lib/sd_mod.ko
echo "Loading libata.ko module"
insmod /lib/libata.ko
echo "Loading sata_nv.ko module"
insmod /lib/sata_nv.ko
echo "Loading jbd.ko module"
insmod /lib/jbd.ko
echo "Loading ext3.ko module"
insmod /lib/ext3.ko
echo "Loading dm-region_hash.ko module"
insmod /lib/dm-region_hash.ko
echo "Loading dm-mem-cache.ko module"
insmod /lib/dm-mem-cache.ko
echo "Loading xor.ko module"
insmod /lib/xor.ko
echo "Loading dm-raid45.ko module"
insmod /lib/dm-raid45.ko
echo Mounting /proc filesystem
mount -t proc /proc /proc
echo Mounting sysfs
mount -t sysfs none /sys
echo Creating device files
mountdev size=32M,mode=0755
echo -n /sbin/hotplug > /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug
mkdir /dev/.udevdb
mkdevices /dev
echo Making device-mapper control node
mkdmnod
echo Activating device-mapper raid devices
dmraid -ay -i
resume
echo Mounting root filesystem /dev/mapper/nvidia_eaeccaag1
mount -o defaults --ro -t ext3 /dev/mapper/nvidia_eaeccaag1 /sysroot
echo Switching to new root
switchroot --movedev /sysroot
echo Initrd finished
and the raid sets on the nVidia controller gets detected and activated,
but not the RAID5 on Sil3114
So when the kernel has booted and the system is up I have to log in as
root and simply do:
dmraid -ay
and the RAID5 set is detected, activated, and I can mount it and use it
without problem...
Any idea why it wont get activated at boot??
