Well if you might have unwanted raid metadata left on the drives you can verify that with # dmraid -v -r command.  If it detects any raid drives with that command that means there is still metadata left on the drives.  The command to erase metadata with dmraid doesn't work very well, you are better off erasing it from your controller's bios.  Or you could just try the install with the nodmraid option like Peter suggested.
