But, yeah this is the problem. There is no device created. The controller is supported and has a driver, and supposedly has had a driver since the 2.4 kernel. The system detects the card loads the driver but can not find any devices. I am not expecting to find one RAID device created, I know its a software RAID controller ( basically ) I don't care, I just want to be able to use the controller. It looks like the driver is only recognizing the SATA port on the controller and not the PATA port. You can use either or. So it sees the controller but no attached devices. > tlc wrote: > > On Tue, 2005-11-15 at 18:18 -0500, James Olson wrote: > >> What is the output of # fdisk -l > > [root@tlacicero ~]# fdisk -l > > > > Disk /dev/sda: 80.0 GB, 80000000000 bytes <----- my sata boot drive > > 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9726 cylinders > > Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes > > > > Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System > > /dev/sda1 * 1 13 104391 83 Linux > > /dev/sda2 14 9726 78019672+ 8e Linux LVM > > > > Disk /dev/sdb: 80.0 GB, 80026361856 bytes <------ hotplug USB portable > > 240 heads, 63 sectors/track, 10337 cylinders > > Units = cylinders of 15120 * 512 = 7741440 bytes > > > > Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System > > /dev/sdb1 1 10337 78147688+ 83 Linux > > > > > >> and # dmsetup ls > > VolGroup00-LogVol01 (253, 1) > > VolGroup00-LogVol00 (253, 0) > > > > > >> and # dmraid -b > > /dev/sda: 156250000 total, "3JVC1EKG" > > /dev/sdb: 156301488 total, "" > > > > > > Thanks for the responses, I do appreciate it. > > > > _______________________________________________ > > Ataraid-list@xxxxxxxxxx > https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/ataraid-list _______________________________________________ Ataraid-list@xxxxxxxxxx https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/ataraid-list
