Thank you very much for taking the time to write to me!
I think I might not have explained my configuration good enough, though.
It's two different raid arrays - one RAID0 and one RAID1.
(The concept being that data that I very much want to keep resides on the RAID1 / redundant array. OS, applications etc. reside on
the RAID0 array..)

I'm still open for any suggestions or the tiniest hint as to why the ataraid driver recognizes the RAID0 but not the RAID1 array.
