Hei

I have recently installed Debian linux on a machine that has the
promise 20276 chip on the motherboard. I am using the native linux
drivers to control the promise device.

I have read that one should never access the hard disks by name.
Would it be a good idea to remove the device files that correspond to the
hard disk partitions, so that I or more importantly someone else would not do so
by accident. Or does linux still need them on the system.
