very poor performance under multi process environment

Dear All:
I setup a linux box as a file server. I use 4 x DiamondMax Plus 9 200G and RocketRaid 404 Card to build my raid sub-system. I try linux soft raid5 and raid10 and raid10 provided by IDE RAID CARD, but all of them have a very serious problem. When only one process writes the raid disk, the performance seems well,(local copy operation can reach about 10-20MB/s),but when two  processes writes the raid disk simultaneity, the performance is very poor, each one processes can only work at 1-2MB/s. What's the matter? Linux's problem or HPT374's problem?
