I have two servers with a 7810 board (older model with 8 ports and RAID 0,1 and 10) running RedHat 7.3, everything installed directly on the RAID (8x120 GB stripe/mirror). My workstation at home has a GA7DPXDW with RedHat 8.0 and a 3Ware 7410, no problems during install, although I still have the boot and root partitions on a separate disk for security and /home, /usr and swap on the RAID (0) for performance.
A colleague has installed a RedHat 8.0 system on a server with the newer 7500 series, OS not installed on the RAID, but the RAID was immediately available during install, so I guess it's will install without any problems.
As an alternative, you could use the Promise ports as extra IDE controllers (change the jumper) and do Linux software RAID.
Good Luck !

The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-7DPXDW-P ATA 133 D. _______________________________________________ Ataraid-list@xxxxxxxxxx https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/ataraid-list
