I tried to install Linux RedHat 7.2 on a Asus A7V266-E Motherboard equipped
with Promise PDC20265R Raid controller in raid 1.
What is the way to understand if the raid 1 is running ok !
I done:
1) I have two equal 58 GB HD connected on ide2 and ide3. I enabled raid 1 at bios level by Fast Build Utility.
2) At boot time linux see the two HD ide2 --> /dev/hde and ide3 --> /dev/hdg. I loaded RH 7.2 linux on the first HD /dev/hde.
3)I rebuild the same kernel (2.4.7 - 10) including some drives :
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_PDC202XX (promise support)
CONFIG_PDC202XX_FORCE
support for IDE Raid controller
support promise software RAID (Fasttrack(tm))
4) The system do not from hd. It boot only from floppy (with new kernel image. I installed the new kernel in to /boot partition.
5) I duplicated the first HD in to second HD at bios level by Fast Build Utility.
6) Now the system boot ok from HD. The file messages tell :
