Re: Trouble with Promise fasttrack

I'm dealing with a A7V266-E  with the on-board promise 20265 chip, with a
RAID 0 array of 2 disks.
I installed redhat 7.2 on a third disk on the VIA IDE controller. I want to
create a linuxfromscratch on my promise RAID 0 array.

Redhat 7.2 has the ataraid drivers built-in. That's why the dev entries are
already there. You can find the modules in the
/lib/modules/"kernelversion"/kernel/driver/ide. My kernel version is
2.4.9-13 because I used the update RPM for the kernel. Those modules are not
loaded by default.

I wanted to play with the array with sfdisk... I have to --force sfdisk
because I have the error:
"BLKRRPART: invalid parameter"--> Bug ?

Well I think if you want to install redhat straight on your array, the disk
partition program will get lost because of the pb revealed previously.

I expect a better support in the latest kernels. Then I'm going to update
manually my redhat distro to the 2.4.16 or .17, as well as the modules.
Hopefully, sfdisk won't complaint anymore. To make things trickier, on the
first partition of the array I have XP installed...
