Who here has experience setting up grub to boot a root device from /dev/ataraid? I have it setup to use this configuration: root = (hd0,3) kernel=/vmlinuz-2.4.8-5devfs root=/dev/ataraid/disc0/part2 When it gets done loading the kernel, I get: Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel. This is the error I've been getting all the time with lilo and grub, and I do not know how to resolve this, apparently the raid partition is not being seen for root specification? If someone has seen this or know what's wrong, please do tell. Thanks. -----Original Message----- From: ataraid-list-admin@xxxxxxxxxx [mailto:ataraid-list-admin@xxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Helge Lenz Sent: Monday, August 27, 2001 6:14 PM To: ataraid-list@xxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Hacked LILO file corrupted?! You do not need a hacked lilo to boot from the array, just use grub. If you downloaded the file with linux it is maybe already decompressed, just make a "more lilo...", if you see plain text just untar it.
