ISUP over IP

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

hi,

The short answer is YES it can be, but I don't think any of the RTP implementations use ISUP anymore - they probably use BICC.

ISUP have a limited CIC field meaning that it can't control to many calls. BICC was created to cope with that and the main difference between BICC and ISUP is the CIC field.

Today you will find that SIP + RTP is used more and more in areas that earlier was ISUP domain. But, you will still find that M3UA is used a lot for higher level signaling stacks like INAP, CAMEL, MAP etc.

Hello,

The signaling part of ISUP can be carried over M3UA (MTP3 over IP). What about the media part (voice). Is it transported over RTP.

Regards.
