Ok, I apologize about this (I wrote the hardhdlc code) but the current 
implementation does not perform well enough to service an SS7 link.  I 
noticed similar problems as well when I started working on libss7.  I 
have been doing my development on libss7 with the dchan option instead. 
  I just finished a big performance related rewrite of the wct4xxp 
driver, so maybe after I get that released I can get enough time to 
look at the hardhdlc code and figure out what's going on with it on 
SS7.

This is a pri only option, by the way. (switchtype) It doesn't have any 
affect on SS7.
