Excellent! Thank you for this info I was'nt aware of. However I
tried:

export GSK_RENDERER=opengl

and started the updated pavucontrol, unfortunately to no avail:
still black.

I know that my system has difficulties with Vulkan (AMD graphic
card). Sad.
