Hi,

the problem seems to occur completely randomly. I'm using lightdm, but I
don't know if it was running when the issue happened.

When you say "it doesn't work" what do you mean exactly?

Pressing ctrl+alt+f7 takes you to a black screen with a  blinking cursor, or does it take you to the graphical display manager but you are not able to successfully login? Does the mouse cursor move, e.g.?

It is possible that your X or Wayland server has fallen on its face

 ps xua | awk '/Xorg|Xway/'

Any thing useful in journalctl / dmesg?

Thank you
