The physical screen size (and implied aspect ratio) is also very

Yes, the 6.9.3 kernel gets it right. Every other kernel since arch was installed on 1/8/17 has gotten it right. Something in 6.9.4 seems to have changed. Likely an unintended side effect of some other change.
